This figure is my favorite of the DC Collectibles Batman: The Animated Series so far. I can’t say I’m a huge Robin fan, but I did like his character a lot in BTAS, and this figure does him justice. Overall I think the sculpt is fantastic, though a bit on the small side. Robin was fairly ripped in the show, here the figure looks more like a boy. Maybe the figure should have been a bit taller or more broad in the shoulders, but I still think it’s an amazing action figure. Now I’ve read and watched reviews of these figures and have heard the complaints about the fragile joints and sloppy paint, though that seemed much more prevalent in the first series of figures released. I don’t have any issue with my Robin figure. The paint is applied even and smooth and in all the correct spots, without any chipping. Aside from the head sculpt, I think the paint is the strongest part of this figure. It’s vibrant and bright, more so than any other figure in the series so far. I’ve read complaints about sloppy paint on this figure so be on the lookout if you’re buying this in the store. I also like that they sculpted Robin with a smile, it gives more life to the figure. For accessories we get a bunch of alternate hands. We get two fists, two gripping hands, to flat hands, and a hand that has the grapple gun sculpted into it. We also get a bola whip that seems to be a tad too short, a grapple gun that you can put into one of his hands, and an alternate cape that can be put on by removing his head and switching out the capes. One cape drapes over Robins shoulder and the other cape is more pulled back. I think this is a fantastic figure, I feel like it’s stronger in terms of quality than the earlier releases from this line, but still a bit too thin to pose confidently or be rough with. I still found myself being very careful, I don’t want to snap one of his skinny legs or ankles. I advise hitting these figures right outta the blister with some hot air from a blow dryer before moving any of the joints, just to be safe. I know I know, you shouldn’t have to, but you do. So unless you want to be disappointed really quickly, I’d play it safe.
