X-mas gift for my brother.for his collection.great gift.Sideshow has had a number of hit and misses through their celebrated existence. I know there have been some issues with collectors regarding this particular figure, but I have to tell you, I personally found him to be an excellent addition to my collection.I'll start with the most talked about issue that is EASILY remedied. The hat. Yes, it is true that this hat, for whatever reason, does not fit down on the head very well. If I had to venture a guess, I would say that in creating the inner mold of the hat to perfectly match the sculpt, it pulled in slightly while it cooled making it nearly impossible to seat down on the head. EASY fix. Heat up a glass of water in the microwave for three minutes. Turn the hat upside down so you can see the inner cavity where the head would go. Take a spoon and carefully transfer enough of that hot water into the hat until it is full. Why not just dip the whole hat into the hot water? Because it has flocking on the outer surface and you don't want the heat to rub any of that adhesive off. By placing the hot water strictly on the inside, allows the mold to soften. Let the hot water stand in the hat for 30 seconds. Carefully take the hat and pour the water out in your sink. The hat is now very pliable and easily can be seated on the head for a perfect fit. Let it cool for two minutes and the issue is resolved. A perfect fitting hat. End of issue. The head sculpt is an excellent rendition of the Duke. I know it's been tough to get that impression from photos because the light disperses pigments in the face paints that are not apparent when you hold him in your hands. In short, it's a photo anomaly that is not accurate to the actual product. The likeness is excellent. I was stunned how good it was in person. The outfit is well tailored and the accessories, while somewhat generic in detail, more than sufficiently provide a organic appearance to theoverall implied look. The display value is excellent here. I don't see a casual observer grading down on minute details not apparent while admiring the overall likeness and well thought out design of the figure. It's a nice figure to stand next to ANY current specimen in the industry. The body has good articulation to provide any reasonable number of poses one would expect to create for this character and is aided by the addition of a well designed and nicely displayable stand imprinted with the John Wayne signature. This is an excellent figure for any collector or fan who enjoys celebrating the Duke through displays in a bookcase or cabinet for all to see.
