Of all the chillingly charming residents of pleasant Halloween Town, I liked none better than the clan of vampire brothers. Although their screen time was pretty minimal compared to some of the other friendly fiends, they nonetheless proved to be my favorites; and when I saw the whole lot of them available in one cool set for such a fantastic price (they were only $13 when I bought them), I knew I had to jump on them. The detail on this undead foursome looks great, their softly depressing paint applications matching their screen counterparts flawlessly. The headsculpts are spot-on as are the sizes and dimensions of each individual vampir, from the most robust blood-sucker to the skinniest. Unfortunately, their bodies are more or less just hollow black cones, but this is okay as they looked just like that in the movie and had no visible legs to begin with, seemingly gliding across the ground instead of walking, an effect that can be duplicated with these figures. Their points of articulation are decent considering; each strigoi racking in a whopping five points. As for accessories, don't expect much. While a ghoulish gift or two would have been nice, the vampires do however come with a couple of extra hands holding their little black umbrellas which can be swapped out with their normal hands. The umbrellas can't be removed from the hands however, so don't plan on loaning them out to any of Halloween Town's other revolting residents unless of course they plan on taking a vampire's hand with it, which might seem odd in any other place. The packaging itself is pretty cool and is a plastic clamshell case; no cardboard or paper which can oftentimes be easily damaged, especially during shipping and/or storing. Consider the fact that the package is shaped like a coffin and features a jack o' lantern hanging tab and you have a recipe for absurd awesomeness. I've loved The Nightmare Before Christmas ever since it was unleashed onto my eight year old eyes in 1993, and although I had a ton of toys and merchandise as a kid, the vampire brothers is the first toy related product of the film I've bought in roughly 18 years or so and I couldn't be happier. So, no matter if you're a new fan or old, if you're into NBX stuff and don't have the Jun Planning vampires yet; consider them a necessity!
