Figure looks greatGreat figure, no regretsI gave this 5/5, but I'd rate it as 4.5/5 if I could. It's still an excellent product, though. I'll probably be purchasing the Marvel Select Carnage upon its release. Anyway, onto the review.First, the box: Considering the fact that Marvel Select is a line for collectors, the packaging itself is decent looking. I wouldn't display it inside of the box, but some people will choose to. Don't get me wrong, though—it's still a great container. The left side is the most attractive part, featuring a large illustration of Venom. I believe the art is by Angel Medina and was used as the cover for Venom: Dark Origin, Issue 4. Regardless, it really compliments the rest of the package. On the back is a description of the character. It's not without error, but it's a fairly enjoyable read if you don't know much about him. If you're as big of a fan as I am, you'll probably notice the mistakes, but they don't really affect the action figure in any way.Onto the figure: Unlike other Marvel Select products, they've deliberately excluded a stand and have included a multitude of interchangeable parts instead. I think this was a wise decision, but I'd have preferred both. With all of these parts, everyone is able to have the Venom figure of their dreams. One thing that a lot of people tend to skip over is the fact that the Madness backpack's parts can also be used on the main piece. Its hands, for instance, look great on Venom's dominant arms. The four articulated heads can be placed on the main body, too, which looks hilarious. The sculpt is the best part of this figure. It features the sleek design of the symbiote, but retains plenty of texture. The musculature is defined and looks as realistic as a comicbook character's can. They even made sure to include small details like his web shooters. Out of the three main heads, I think the one with Eddie's face peaking out is my least favorite. The other one with the tongue, however, is my favorite. Oddly enough, my tongue seems to be completely attached. I've seen others remove it, so mine must have a small defect. I'm fine with that, though. Perhaps I'll modify it one day.As for the paint job, I'm disappointed. There are small flaws here and there, especially on the heads. Mine is certainly better than some of the others that I've seen, though. If I could've looked through a store's inventory to pick out the best one, I would have. However, the black looks decent and the blue wash is dispersed properly and really highlights the veins. The articulation on this action figure is decent, but nothing revolutionary. It's better than most Marvel Select figures, so there's that. The lack of ankle and wrist pivots is disappointing, but it can be dealt with.Odd that the longest thing I wrote details the packaging, but I digress. Anyway, there you are. 5/5.Overall a great looking figure but for some reason Venom has slight blue coloration (perhaps a color wash applied over black for detail/texture) present only on his butt + crotchal region... very interesting. It's noticeable only in bright, direct sunlight. Blue-butt and all, this is the coolest and by far most detailed Venom action figure I have seen. I don't have many Marvel/superheroes, I collect mostly NECA brand 7" figures and Venom fits in scale with them perfectly (he stands eye-to-eye with a Predator). The "madness" accessory add-ons are totally awesome and make this figure pop out from everything around it. Besides the madness heads + arms attachment that clips onto his back there are also alternate main heads and hands you can swap out to give Venom many different looks. The only problem with this figure is the articulation. There are plenty of articulation points but many of the joints are far too stiff or too loose. The shoulder joints particularly are incredibly stiff. I gave myself a blister trying to loosen 1 of them up and still, forcing it to move it is so difficult I pretty much never move that arm. The ankles and ab-crunch joints are the exact opposite and so loose they flop around at will. This makes a free-standing venom pretty much impossible because: 1) the extra heads/arms (coolest part of the figure) attached to his back make him extremely top-heavy and the floppy ab joint means his torso is capable of shifting position at the slightest vibration, 2) the loose ankle joints add even greater instability to the already very narrow/tiny feet (they made Venom a 7 foot dude who wears size 8 shoes). This all adds up to the fact that it is absolutely necessary to lean Venom's back up against something or he will be taking constant nose-dives off of any surface within reach. I even contacted the company because the package clearly states, "Includes Highly Detailed Base", but they said it was a misprint yet to be corrected and there is actually no base at all. I was very disappointed because other figs in this line come with bases and due to the difficulty keeping the figure standing, a base would have been even more useful here than with smaller figures. My grandson dropped the other and the head broke off.I love the Marvel Select figures. This is the Ultimate Venom figure. If you only want to own one Venom figure this is the one to get. No other Venom figure every released is a match for this guy. He is big and loaded with articulation, with additional back attachment, 3 swappable heads and 3 sets of swappable hands so you can create your personal favourite look for Venom.Highly recommended, grab one before they sell out and the price goes up.I ordered this figure on tuesday june 28th 2016, it arrived today july 2nd 2016. As of now this figure is still in the package it was delivered to my house recently, not longer than 20 minutes ago, the seller has included hundreds of polystyrene peanuts in the package just so it will not damage the packaging and figure. I am very impressed with the detail of the work put into this figure and at only 22 pounds, you are definatley getting good value for your money, this is by far the greatest venom figure i have ever owned, i cannot wait to get him out of the packaging and start stop motion animating with him. If you are contemplating buying either this figure or the marvel legends venom, definatley I would 100% reccomend you buy this figure as you get much more accessories.Very poor paint job on the figure! On one of the heads there is white paint is across the face on top on the of the black. I have to buy black and white paint to fix all the errors like his face, spider symbol and hands. I should have to be doing this, the figure should be this poor quality. This is the worse I've seen. Because venom is my most favourite villian I can swallow the errors, but this is not acceptable. I will be taking pictures of the paint job. Everything else on the figure is good...very cool figure. Nice articulation and accessories. Four different head options that depict his various incarnations.where do i start, theirs so much extras with it, it stands well, great figure.
